EDGELOG21

Greetings Parents/Guardians:

I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy this summer. As I have communicated with you in the past this summer the administration team has been hard at work on our reopening plan for the 2020-2021 school year. I know it is a hard time for all families. This is one of the hardest decisions that we have to make for our families in a long time. As a parent myself of 3 school age children I totally understand the pressure that you are all under when making these decisions for your child.

I want to ensure you that my team’s number one concern is the safety of your child. I will be rolling out my recommended re-opening plan to the board on Friday July 31st. My recommendation is for the school to be open for all students K-8 for in person instruction 5 days a week. All safety protocols will be put into place including social distancing, mask wearing for all students and staff, and frequent sanitizing as recommended by ODE reopening guidelines and the CDC. There will also be a remote learning option taught by Edge and Akros certified staff, for parents who choose to have their students learn remotely. This remote learning option will be much more intense than last spring. This option will closely match what is being taught in the classroom and follow a strict daily schedule between the hours of 8am-3pm. If you are interested in signing up for our remote learning option please call the school ASAP if you haven’t already done so. I will also be recommending to the board to delay our start of school to August 26th, 2020 to allow the staff more time to prepare for this upcoming school year.

Taking all of this information under consideration the 2020-2021 school year will look a lot different for all students and staff than it has for any other school year. We are still as always committed to the safety, education, and overall well-being of your child and cannot wait for the school year to start. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to call the school and ask to speak to an administrator.

Sincerely,

Faith DeCesare

Superintendent
